Product Description
Type | Vintage fountain pen in excellent working condition. It has a high-mounted cap band that is probably a non-Sheaffer addition |
Product Name | Sheaffer 5-30 (The nib is marked 5-30.) |
Manufacturer and Year | Sheaffer USA -- 1930s |
Length | 4-9/16" |
Filling System | Lever filler - working perfectly with a new sac |
Color | Black radite. Gold plated trim. |
Nib | 5-30 gold fine nib is good sized. It is in very nice condition with a lot of tipping material. A little bit of give, but no real flex. |
Condition |
Excellent condition with no cracks or serious scratches. Light handwear only. Excellent imprint. The trim has two dots of brassing on either side of the clip ball, and there is some brassing on the top of the clip, but the cap ring is good. The wise men on FPN tell me this high cap band was not Sheaffer's doing, and I tend to agree. (It looks more like a Mabie Todd band from this era, though the positioning is unique.) There is no crack that is being hidden by the band. |
