Product Description
Type Cartridge/converter filling fountain pen, working well.
Product Name Sheaffer 500 aka the "Dolphin"/"Porpoise" model.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- earlier 1962-'64.
Length A hair under 5-1/4 inches capped.
Filling System It takes Sheaffer style cartridges. It does not accept standard Sheaffer squeeze or piston converters. (Thus no converter is included, and we will include a cartridge.)
Color Black with a brushed stainless steel cap and shiny steel trim. The body and cap taper to slightly squared ends.
Nib MEDIUM steel nib is smooth and firm with great tipping material. The nib gives the pen its name, and it's a variation of the inlaid nibs Sheaffer was putting on the Imperials. The pen doesn't have a real inlaid nib, but instead one which is flat, inserted straight into the front of the section.
Condition Excellent condition. There are long, thin scratches on the barrel. The cap has some light scratching and scattered shiny marks. The clip looks great, with no scratches or polishing marks. No cracks or chips, dings, dents, or plating wear. The pen is working well. The imprints are clear.
