Product Description
Type Lever filling fountain pen and mechanical pencil set in box, restored and working well.
Product Name Balance Lifetime 875 and 400 set.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- 1936-42 (those were the years they made Balances in this color).
Length The pen is 5-7/16 inches, while the pencil is 5-5/16 inches.
Filling System The pen is a lever filler, we've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well. The pencil takes 0.9mm (or "thin") leads, which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism. We'll include a small packet of leads.
Color Golden brown striated with gold plated trim, radius style clips, and a white dot on the fountain pen.
Nib FINE two-tone Sheaffer's Lifetime nib is smooth and firm with nice tipping material. The masking is just slightly worn.
Condition Excellent condition. No cracks or chips. There are some light scratches and marks on the cap and barrel of the pen, and a very small ding in its cap band. There's just a touch of plating wear on the ball of the clip and on the lever. There are some very light marks of wear on the pencil, but overall it looks very good. We've fully restored the pen, and both pen and pencil are working very well. They look great in their vintage Sheaffer's box.
They are both engraved with gold colored type which reads "Pat Conway" (see photos)
