Product Description
Type Vintage full sized ring top fountain pen.
Product Name This is in the Balance family, it's the long version, one size down from the largest, fat version. Unusual ring top model with a detachable tail. The tail is sometimes explained as being used for telephone dialing, but it can also be used to convert the pen to a desk model.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA – 1929-32 (this color was only made for those years).
Length 5-1/2" long, excluding ringtop hardware.
Filling System Lever filler. We've fully restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Jade green celluloid. This is the color that motivated Parker to make Duofolds in colors other than red and black! The section and end finial are black.
Nib EXTRA FINE gold Sheaffer Lifetime nib with a serial number on it. It's large, fairly smooth and quite firm with nice tipping material.
Condition Excellent condition, though the barrel has discolored to a slightly darker color. The cap is still a really vibrant green. There are smoothed out light tooth marks at the top of the cap and end of the barrel. There's light scratching on the cap and barrel, but no cracks, chips, or personalization. The cap band has light brassing along the edges, and the ringtop hardware has some plating wear. The imprint is slightly smoothed out, but still clear. One of the fins on the feed has partially broken off, but this should not affect the pen's function, and there are still plenty of fins available to hold the ink. Fully restored and working well.
