Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling oversized fountain pen.
Product Name Balance Lifetime (this is an oversized model but narrower than other ones we've seen). Circa 1938, pens got model names and this one would be "Premier."
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- 1936-42 (those were the years they made the Balance in this color and with this clip).
Length 5-1/2", it's thinner and a bit shorter than the fat lever filler oversize Balance.
Filling System Vacuum or "Vac-fil" filling system. We've replaced the piston and seals and it's working well.
Color Golden brown celluloid lengthwise strips alternating with yellow transparent lengthwise strips. It has a white dot above the clip and the radius clip. The cap band is 1/8" wide.
Nib FINE gold nib. It's smooth and firm. It says Sheaffer Lifetime on it. The nib has a slight architect like shape to the tipping which is why it's a fine point even though the very tip of the pen is extra-fine.
Condition Excellent + condition. The barrel transparency is perfect and the viewing partitions are not ambered. The barrel imprint is clear. The pen has low handwear. At the top of the clip to the right, there is a dark colored scratch which looks a bit like a crack, but it isn't. It's been smoothed, but you can still feel it and it's clearly visible. The pen is fully restored and working very well.
