Type Vintage mechanical pencil.
Product Name Balance 400 Pencil, standard size model. No white dot on the pencil.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA – circa 1937-42 (those were the years this model in this color was made).
Length 5-1/4".
Filling System It takes 0.9mm (or "Thin") leads which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism. We'll include a small pack of leads.
Color Marine green striated with gold plated trim, a radius style clip, and a medium width cap band.
Condition Excellent condition, really mint were it not for the 1mm gap between the cap and barrel. We fiddled with it a bit, but couldn't get the gap to go away. (see photos). Otherwise the pencil is great, with just a few tiny marks of wear and scratches on the cap and barrel. There are a few small scratches on the cone and some light microscratching on the cap band. No cracks or chips, dings or dents, real plating wear, or personalization. it's working very well.
