Product Description
Type Snorkel fountain pen and pencil set
Product Name Clipper Snorkel Set
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA (imprinted on cap and barrel) -- 1952-59.
Length Pen is 5-1/2", pencil is 5-1/16".
Filling System The fountain pen is a snorkel filler, which is working very well after we restored it with a new sac, O-ring, and point gasket. The pencil take 0.9mm leads which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism. It's working well, and we'll include a small pack of leads.
Color Green bodies with chrome plated caps with a lined pattern, and gold plated trim. White dots.
Nib MEDIUM Sheaffer's Triumph style nib is smooth and firm with nice tipping material. The nib has a very slight "Waverly" upturn at the tip. Sometimes the Clippers have marked palladium silver nibs, but this one is not marked, though that doesn't mean it's not palladium silver.
Condition Excellent + condition in box. This is a beautifully colored, shiny pen and pencil set that is pleasing to the eye. The fountain pen has light to moderate wear. There are some tooth marks on the blind cap. The barrel threads look great, no plating wear or brassing. The cap has microscratching on the silver part, and some scratches on the gold cap band. The clip looks good, with just some slight plating wear along the sides. The white dot is slightly yellowed, but looks great. The mechanical pencil is dainty and slim. It has light scratching on the cap and barrel. The clip has some plating wear around the top edge. The white dot is also yellowed, but looks great. The imprints on both pieces are clear.
