Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen and mechanical pencil set in their box.
Product Name Unknown model, it's from a low-end series with semi-hooded "Stylpoint" like nibs and slanted cap ends.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- circa 1960s, it must be from before 1964 or so when they changed their branding to "Sheaffer," rather than "Sheaffer's."
Length Fountain pen is just over 4-7/8", the pencil is just over 4-3/4".
Filling System The pen takes Sheaffer Cartridges (which are still made), or you can fill it with a converter, though only Sheaffer Button Converters are small enough to fit in this pen, and that converter is difficult to get your hands on. The pencil takes 0.9mm (aka "Thin") leads, which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism (you twist the cap piece to extend the lead). We'll include a small packet of leads.
Color Black with chrome plated caps and trim.
Nib FINE-MEDIUM steel nib looks like the nibs on the Imperial I pens, the Stylpoint nib. We've also seen this semi hooded nib on similar low end Sheaffer pens with a slanted cap top. It's smooth and firm.
Condition Very nice condition. Both pen and pencil show some small scratches and marks on their barrels, and there's some some very light scratching on the caps. No cracks or chips, dings or dents, or plating wear. Both pieces are working very well, the set looks great in its box.
