Product Description
Type Snorkel fountain pen and pencil set in a hard to find color
Product Name Sentinel Snorkel
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in Canada (the barrel of the fountain pen only) and U.S.A. (all other marked parts) -- 1952-59. This color is so rare that the odds of finding a matched set are high.
Length Pen is 5-1/2", pencil is just over 5".
Filling System The fountain pen is a snorkel filler, which is working very well after we restored it with a new sac, O-ring, and point gasket. The pencil take 0.9mm leads which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism. It's working well, and we'll include a small pack of leads.
Color Fern Green bodies (a warm green, not entirely unlike the avocado green of the 1970s) with chrome plated caps and gold plated trim. Fern Green is considered one of the harder-to-find colors.
Nib EXTRA FINE 14k gold Sheaffer's Triumph style nib is smooth and firm with nice tipping material. The nib has a slight "Waverly" upturn.
Condition Excellent + condition for this beautiful set in a rare color. The fountain pen has very light wear on the barrel and cap-- difficult to see on the bnarrel because of the color of the pen. The mechanical pencil is superior all-around. It still has the $7.50 chalk mark on the barrel. No cracks, chips, dings, or dents. The imprints are clear.
