Product Description
Type Vintage Snorkel filling fountain pen, restored and working well.
Product Name Sovereign, from the Snorkel line. One of the less common snorkel models, it has a steel lined cap (with alternating straight and squiggle lines) with a gold filled clip, no cap band. This pen is "correct" in all respects but one .... it should not have a white dot on the cap. (We can't explain it.)
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- 1952-9.
Length 5-9/16" pen.
Filling System Snorkel filler. We've restored it with a new sac, O-ring, and point gasket.
Color Burgundy with a steel cap (with a pattern of two straight lines surrounding one line that has pointed squiggles), and gold clip. Unusual white dot above clip (not typical for these pens).
Nib FINE two-tone F3 open nib, 14k with palladium masking.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a beautifully designed, shiny pen in a lovely color combination. The barrel has light to moderate scratching, mainly long, thin scratches. The cap has moderate microscratching that very visible. The clip looks excellent. The white dot (unusual for this model) has a scratch. The imprints are clear.
