Product Description
Type Vintage Snorkel fountain pen and mechanical pencil set, working well.
Product Name Valiant, snorkel
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA - 1952-9.
Length 5-7/16" pen, 5" pencil.
Filling System Snorkel filling pen. We've restored it with a new sac, point gasket and o-ring, and we'll send instructions on how to use this filling system. The pencil takes 0.9mm (or "Thin") leads, which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism. Both pen and pencil are working very well, and we'll include a small packet of leads for the pencil.
Color Burgundy with gold plated trim, 3/8" wide cap bands, and white dots above the clips.
Nib MEDIUM two-tone Triumph 14k nib, marked M5. It's smooth and firm with a slight Waverly upturn and excellent tipping material. There's only slight wear to the masking.
Condition Excellent condition. Light to moderate wear on the bodies of both pieces. The fountain pen looks great, with just very light handwear and microscratching. There are some light plating wear on the edges of the clip. The pencil is a little rougher, with more moderate scratching near the clip, and also around the middle of the pencil. There is a crack in the pencil "cap", extending from where the clip attaches to the body, but it doesn't affect the pencil's function. (We've priced the set with the pencil's defects in mind.) There is also light plating wear on the edges of the pencil's clip. No chips, dings or dents, real brassing, or personalization. The pen is fully restored, and both pen and pencil are working very well. Ships in Sheaffer box.
