Type Blotter
Product Name Unknown, usually these are just called "rocker blotters
Manufacturer and Year Most lkely made in the 1930s or 40s.
Length The wooden holder measures 2-1/8" by 6-1/4". The rocking blotter portion is about 2-1/8" by 6-1/4" and is about 1-3/8" thick not including the handle.
Blotter System After writing whatever with your fountain pen or wet rollerball, lower the blotter onto your page. Then grip the handle of the blotter and rock it back and forth in a rocking motion over your words, careful not to drag or smear. Lift the rocker blotter straight off the page. The blotter comes fitted with a thick sheet of blotting paper. To replace it, unscrew the knob on the top and replace the blotter paper. It can hold a few layers of blotter paper.
Color Wooden blotter with brown stain with two inlaid rectangles on either side of the knob that have blue painted trim. The knob matches the brown stain of the blotter and has a sweet red rose appliqued on the top.
Condition Very nice condition. There are some dings on the wood around the edges. Some of the brown paint on the knob has chipped off, so you only see the remainder of the rose that had been painted there.. The blotter paper has not been used. We've photographed how it looks.
