Product Description
Type Fountain Pen
Product Name Gold Seal, possibly from the Equipoise line. We thought it might be a "purse pen" but those usually have flat clips like the Bantam, so it could be a "vest" model. Uncommon at the very least, as we've never seen one before.
Manufacturer and Year Wahl-Eversharp, 1930s
Length 4-1/16" small sized
Filling System Lever filler (restored)
Color Black and Pearl with gold trim
Nib Fine flexible Eversharp Gold Seal Signature 14k. The Signature nibs were intended to land in the middle of the spectrum between flexible and manifold, and designed for people who wanted a heavy durable nib, but not so stiff as to cause fatigue. See writing sample below. Nice line variation from fine to broad.
Condition Excellent condition. Brassing on the clip ball, but the rest of the clip looks really good. The cap band also has brassing. Cap and barrel both have the wear expected from being nearly 90 years old, and some of the pearl areas have darkened to a caramel color. There is a mark on the cap, just to the right of the gold seal, that looks like a crack or scratch; it's about 1/4" long. We've included a closeup picture so you can judge it for yourself. No chips or personalization. Restored and working well.
