Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen and mechanical pencil set in original box.
Product Name Gold Seal
Manufacturer and Year Wahl Eversharp, made in Chicago, USA - late 1920s
Length Pen is 5-3/8", pencil is just a tiny bit longer.
Filling System Lever filling system. We have installed a new sac and it's working well. The pencil takes 1.1mm (or "thick") leads, which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism, as is often the case with Eversharp, you will have to push the leads to make them retract. We'll include a small pack of leads.
Color Orange hard rubber in the greek key finish with gold plated trim.
Nib SEMI-FLEX FINE Eversharp Gold Seal nib is 14k. It's smooth with nice tipping remaining. The feed is marked with an M, but this nib writes more like what we would call a fine. It's got a little flex to it, and with a little pressure the line will vary from fine to broad.
Condition Very nice condition, excellent except for the fact that the cap lip was reduced/shortened, no doubt to remove a crack. We have priced the set accordingly. There's some damage, minor scratching on the cap and barrel of the pen, a few tiny dots of dark color on the barrel, and a tiny chip on the inside of the cap lip (see photos). The pencil also shows some light scratching and a small scuff on the upper barrel opposite the clip. The trim on both pieces is in nice condition, with just some very light scratching but no brassing visible. They're very weighty and solid feeling, and the imprints and patterning in the hard rubber remain crisp. The original box is a little worn, but quite attractive. No cracks or personalization
