Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling ring top fountain pen with a flexible nib.
Product Name Model 0852 V (marked on the end of the pen barrel). The "V" models were short but full girth. This is the ring top version. This pen probably had a different cap to begin with, one with a wide band, based on the "8" in the model number. The cap exactly matches the barrel in terms of wear, as does the fading, so if a switch was made it probably happened 100 years ago.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in USA - circa 1920s.
Length 4-3/8".
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Black chased hard rubber with gold plated trim and a thin groove instead of a cap band. The chasing is mostly worn, you can see the pattern still, but it's quite smooth and shiny.
Nib FLEXIBLE MEDIUM gold Waterman's Ideal #2 nib is smooth with nice tipping. It's nicely flexible with easy line variation from a small medium to a double broad without much pressure. See our writing sample below.
Condition Very nice condition. No cracks or chips, dings or dents, or personalization. The color has changed to a solid chocolate brown except for the upper barrel and section where the cap covered it. There are a few scratches in the cap and barrel, and small spots of brassing on the edges of the lever. The imprint is only slightly worn, very readable. It's fully restored and working well.
