Product Description
Type Vintage pen which works beautifully with a flexible nib.
Product Name Model 52 1/2 (marked on the end of the barrel) ... this is the slender version of the full length model 52.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA - circa mid 1920s
Length 5-3/8"
Filling System Lever filler. We have replaced the bladder and it's working well.
Color Black chased hard rubber with nickel plated trim.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE 14k Waterman's Ideal New York nib (it's probably a #2, but the way it's set you can only see the very top of the number). It's what we would call full flex, with easy line variation from fine to broad, and double broad with a little pressure. See our writing sample. It's smooth, with nice tipping.
Condition Very nice condition with hard rubber discoloration. The majority of the pen has faded to the dark brown that hard rubber turns to with time, but there are a few small spots where it's darker. The trim is a bit worn, with spots on the clip and lever looking a bit worn and pitted (see photos). No cracks, chips, or large scratches. The chased pattern is worn, as is the imprint, but still the pen is quite attractive, restored and working very well. The nib is a pleasure to write with.
