Product Description
Type Vintage pen which works beautifully and has a flexible nib.
Product Name Model 52 (marked on the end of the pen barrel). There's a paper label in place on the barrel that says "No 52 Med. with Clip." We are wondering about the "Medium" ... maybe it refers to the flex, because this pen doesn't look like it was ever used and it seems unlikely the nib was replaced. Even by 1920s standards, there's no way this extra fine nib was considered a medium!
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA, 1920s
Length 5-3/8"
Filling System Lever filler (We installed a new sac and it works very well.)
Color Black chased hard rubber with nickel plated trim.
Nib EXTRA FINE FULL FLEX 14k Waterman's #2 nib. Though not a wet noodle or ultra flex nib, it has what we consider full flex, with a good ink flow. Writes wet and smooth. Good tipping material. The line varies from fine or extra fine to a nice broad with just light pressure. Don't rely on our description though, everyone has different standards for flex: see our writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition, with no cracks or scratches, but the hard rubber has seriously faded to a brownish color. The hard rubber shows very little wear and the chasing is crisp despite the fading. The imprints on the barrel are crisp and readable.
