Product Description
Type | Vintage pen which works beautifully and has a flexible nib. |
Product Name | Model 52 V (marked on the end of the pen barrel). The V designation was for a short pen, so the 52V model number indicates this is a short version with the same thickness and nib as the full size 52. This is the ring top version. |
Manufacturer and Year | Waterman - circa 1920s |
Length | 4-1/4" |
Filling System | Lever filler (We have replaced the bladder and it works very well.) |
Color | Black chased hard rubber with nickel plated trim |
Nib | The nib is marked Waterman Ideal Reg US Pat Off (we can see the nib number is 2). It is nicely flexible with a generous ink flow ... and a lot of tipping material. The line varies from fine to broad, and it flexes effortlessly enough for us to be willing to call it full flex. With no pressure it writes a wet fine line, and with a little pressure you'll get noticeably more ink flow ... this is the kind of nib that responds differently to different inks, so you'll want to experiment. Please see writing sample below. |
Condition

Very nice condition with some wear to chasing and hard rubber that has lightened from exposure to the sun. No cracks or chips. The imprints are very readable. This pen writes very smoothly with a good amount of flex. The filling system is working well, and should be good for years to come. |
