Product Description
Type Vintage ring top pen which works beautifully and has a flexible nib.
Product Name Model 552 1/2, imprinted on end of barrel. There is also an "AS" stamped on the end of the pen, but we can't find any documentation on that imprint, and it seems to be in a different font than the number, suggesting that it is not contemporaneous with the model number. It could be something added after the engraving was done.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA - circa 1920s
Length 5-1/4" long capped, and slender.
Filling System Lever filler (We have replaced the bladder and it works very well.)
Color 14k gold overlay with black hard rubber section and end piece. It has a pattern that's known as "hand engraved vine", which covers not just the cap and barrel, but also is present on the clip and lever bar. Very intricate!
Nib MEDIUM 14k manifold, quite firm and smooth.
Condition Excellent condition. The overlay looks fantastic, with minimal signs of usage. The engraving is really strong, with just minimal smoothing in a few spots. The black end piece hs some light fading, but the section is nice and dark. The filling system is working well, and we'll guarantee it for a year.
The barrel is personalized with what we think are the initials "FS".
