Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen.
Product Name Commando (it's marked on the barrel). This model was one step down in size from the standard Hundred Year Pen, and otherwise quite similar to the later Hundred Year Pens.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in USA -- early 1940's.
Length 5-1/8".
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Black with gold plated trim and two thin cap bands.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE Waterman's Ideal 14k gold nib. Big #5 nib. It's flexible, with line variation from fine to a nice larger broad with a little pressure. Some discoloration and mottling on the nib surface. Almost full flex, great for every day writing. See our writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a very shiny, nice-sized pen. The barrel has marks caused by the cap lip and otherwise just light scratching. The cap has light scratching except in the area around the cap bands where there are thin scratch lines that look like they might have been caused by polishing. The lever has pitting along the edges but it is shiny. The cap bands have heavy plating wear and scratching. The clip has plating wear and pitting along the edge at the very end of the clip. The imprint is crystal clear.
