Product Description
Type Lever filling fountain pen, restored and working well
Product Name We could not locate the exact name of the model, but it has a Taperite nib. In 1945, Waterman introduced their Taperite line with a semi-hooded nib as a response to the Parker 51. A few years later in the US, they updated these pens with a gold cap and called them Corinth, but in France this pen was still called Taperite, and variations in caps were options, rather than features of different models.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in France -- circa 1950-51.
Length 5-5/16" long
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Black barrel. The cap is gold (there's a hallmark, but we can't quite make it out), and based on information that we've seen for comparable models, we believe that it's gold-filled. The cap has a pattern of grouped lines on the bottom half and smooth polished gold on the top half.
Nib 14k gold Taperite semi-hooded nib somewhere between a fine and a medium. Very soft and springy.
Condition Excellent condition. This is a shiny, elegant pen, featuring an especially beautiful cap. The fountain pen has wear on the barrel, including light to moderate scratching and some uneven spots. The section has moderate scratching and marks. There is brassing on the clutch ring, but it's still working quite well to hold the cap in place. The lever and housing have brassing and some dots of plating wear. The cap has plating wear on the lip, polishing marks, and two small dents on the upper half. The clip has plating wear along the sides. The imprint is somewhat smoothed down on the right half, but can still be read with magnification.
