Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen with a screw-on style cap.
Product Name 100 Year Pen (it's marked Hundred Year Pen on the cap and the nib).
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in USA – this is the last major version of the model, introduced circa 1943.
Length Standard length, 5-1/4", but it's quite stout.
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Brown celluloid, which Waterman called Amber, with clear amber ends. The barrel end piece is likely a replacement, but it is close to the correct amber color. Very shiny with gold plated trim with a wide 3/16" cap band with grooves on its edges. Black section.
Nib FINE gold Hundred Year Pen nib is smooth and semi-flex.
Condition Excellent condition, only light wear on the cap and barrel. The clip shows some plating wear along the sides and around the tip. The clear amber celluloid on top of the cap has the beginnings of the typical crackling, but it's not nearly as severe as some others that we've seen. There is a scratch or melt mark about halfway up the cap to the right of the clip, and then above that there's an area that looks almost pitted. The cap band has microscratching, and touches of brassing along the edges. The barrel has the typical marks from capping, and light scratching on the rest of the barrel. We do see some crackling at the end of the barrel near the end piece, which is fairly typical. The amber piece on the end of the barrel is smooth and clear. The lever bar and housing look good, though there is some plating wear around the tab end. It's fully restored and working well. The imprints are clear.
