Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen.
Product Name Unknown
Manufacturer and Year Possibly Aiken Lambert, as it has a nib with their name. However, you do see their nibs on lots of jewelry and department store eyedroppers. There's an imprint near the end of the barrel with a worn hallmark or maker's mark and the words "Fine Silver." The shape looks a bit like Waterman.
Length 5-11/16" and slender
Filling System Eyedropper. We'll include instructions, a pipette and a bit of silicone grease so that you can keep the threads ink-tight.
Color Black smooth hard rubber with a fine silver filigree overlay.
Nib #3 Aiken Lambert flexible fine nib, which has some impressive ink flow. We're not calling it a wet noodle, because it does take a bit of pressure to flex it, but the ink flow will definitely keep up. Easy flexing from fine to double or triple broad. See writing sample below.
Condition Excellent + condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is an ornate and elegant pen in a classic vintage design. There is a "break" in the overlay on the barrel, and we've included a detailed shot of this area in the photos. There are some areas where the barrel has shrunk away from the overlay (a common side-effect of aging), and it's possible that something got caught underneath the filigree and pulled it up. We have pressed it back into place, and it is staying there. The filigree has assorted dents and dings, as well as some scratching, but overall it's in quite nice shape. The black hard rubber is faded somewhat, but is still nice and dark. The section has light scratching. There are some bite marks on the end finial.
The nameplate is personalized with the initials "H G S" in an ornamental script.
