Product Description
Type Vintage ring top mechanical pencil.
Product Name Unknown.
Manufacturer and Year Aikin Lambert & Co., an American company – circa 1890s or 1900s (the patent date marked is 1884).
Length 2-9/16" not including the ring itself.
Filling System We couldn't find a lead that would fit in this one. The lead-holding socket is too large for 1.1mm lead, and two small for any of the large stockbroker or art pencil (drawing) leads we tried. It seems to be cap-actuated (or "repeater"), as the ringtop piece moves down just like a cap actuated pencil.
Color Black chassed hard rubber on the majority of the barrel, the rest being gold plated or gold filled (it's unmarked).
Condition Excellent cosmetic condition with just very light plating wear. There's a tiny ding on the gold just below the BCHR area. No cracks or chips in the hard rubber. The tip of what appears to be the socket or pusher-piece may have been broken off, but it appears that the interior of it is still intact, so it should grasp the proper sized leads just fine. If you have the proper sized leads.
