Product Description
Type Full size eyedropper fountain pen with a very flexible dip pen nib.
Product Name Mercantile, it's marked on the barrel.
Manufacturer and Year Aikin, Lambert & Co., New York -- circa 1910s or '20s. We replaced the original Aiken Lambert nib with an earlier dip pen nib, also by Aiken Lamvert.
Length Just under 5-3/4".
Filling System Eye dropper. We cleaned and tested the pen and it's working very well.
Color Black chased hard rubber with no trim.
Nib FLEXIBLE "Wet Noodle" FINE Aikin Lambert & Co. No. 4 dip pen nib marked FH. This nib came from a dip pen, but it works quite well on this eye dropper pen. See writing sample below. Large size nib with easy flex from extra fine to double broad.
Condition Excellent condition. There are a few very small scratches and marks. No cracks or chips, and very little handwear: the chasing still has nice texture to it and the imprint is really lovely and clear. The hard rubber has kept its original color quite well. We've cleaned and tested the pen and it's working very well.
