Product Description
Type Vintage eyedropper fountain pen with a flexible nib.
Product Name Unknown
Manufacturer and Year The nib was made by Carey [of New York] Pen Company, USA -- 1910s, while the company was called, "Carey Pen Company," some people refer to it as "Carey of New York." No other marks to indicate manufacturer.
Length 5-1/4".
Filling System Eyedropper filler. We cleaned and tested it and it's working very well. We will send instructions and recommendations for usage as well as some silicone grease and an eyedropper.
Color Black hard rubber with a sterling silver overlay. The overlay is trefoil leaf patterned.
Nib FINE FLEXIBLE #2 14k nib is smooth with nice tipping material remaining. It has very strong line variation. See writing sample below. The nib is marked, "Carey New York." The nib has been further adjusted post photography and writing sample.
Condition Very nice working condition. The black hard rubber is very dark but it has two tones to it. It can't be felt texturally but it looks like someone painted random parts of the black hard rubber through the cut outs. There are small marks peppered on the overlay and some chips in the sterling near the cap lip. The one next to the "sterling" imprint, photographed below, is rough. There are two cracks at the top of the section that do not cause leaking or affect writing. (We will guarantee the filling system for one year from date of purchase.) Despite the obvious wear, to a casual glance the pen looks great.
