Filling System Matchstick filler. This is one of the early "self filler" systems where there is an internal sac that you compress externally to fill with ink. This pen has a gold filled cut out which you depress with ideally a matchstick. A new sac has been installed. The pen works very well.
Color Black hard rubber with gold filled overlay. It is probably 18k gold filled based off of the 18 on the clip. The overlay has lengthwise lines and there are two blue enamel bands with geometric patterns. The blue is very dark. There is a small plate on the back of the cap.
Nib Fine Flexible #4 14k nib. It has some line variation. See writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition with a beautiful and shiny exterior. There are some dings at the end of the barrel and there are small marks throughout the cap and barrel. There is a shallow dent on the barrel and a ding between the upper band and the section. There is some plating wear on the edges of components like at the top of the cap, around the clip, and at the end of the barrel. No cracks or bite marks. The plate on the back of the cap has been customized but we can't read it.
