Type Crescent filling vintage fountain pen in great condition with a fully flexible nib.
Product Name Crescent, Model 20P (the imprint reads "Trade Mark 20P" at the end of the barrel). The 2 indicates nib size, the 0 means no bands, and the P indicates a short pen.
Manufacturer and Year Conklin, made in USA -- 1920s.
Length 4-1/4".
Filling System Crescent filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Black chased hard rubber with gold filled crescent.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE Conklin #2 Toledo gold nib is very smooth with nice tipping. If you know us, you know we don't call something full flex casually, but we think this almost qualifies. It's not the proverbial "wet noodle," but it does yield really good flexibility. The tines spread easily for good line variation from fine or extra-fine to broad. See our writing sample below.
Condition Excellent + condition. The chasing pattern and some of the imprints are somewhat smoothed down, but still easily visible. The locking mechanism beneath the crescent moves easily. The crescent has some touches of plating wear. The barrel imprints show some wear, and the end of the barrel imprint is a bit difficult to make out. The color of the hard rubber is quite good, very dark and even all over. The pen is fully restored and working well.
