Product Description
Type Fountain pen and Mechanical Pencil Set
Product Name Conway Stewart No. 366 "Scribe" Fountain Pen and "Nippy" Mechanical Pencil
Manufacturer and Year Conway Stewart, England, 1930s
Length Fountain Pen: 5"; Mechanical Pencil: 5-1/16"
Filling System The pen fills via a lever. It is working well, restored here at Peyton Street Pens with a new sac, and we will guarantee the filling system for a year. The mechanical pencil takes 0.9 mm leads. The leads are extended by twisting the cone, not the end piece. To retract the lead, you need to hold the pencil near the thin gold band and turn the black cone part, otherwise the cone unscrews. We will include a pack of leads.
Color Blue and Brown marble (the blue has pearlescence). Two straight black lines running the length of the barrels. Black end pieces on the fountain pen. Black 5/8" end piece on the barrel and black section beneath the short gold cone on the mechanical pencil. Chrome trim, though it may have originally been lightly plated with gold.
Nib FINE-MEDIUM FLEXIBLE 14k nib. Please see writing sample. Modest line variation from extra fine to medium, with a slight oblique cut.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a beautifully colored, shiny and unique fountain pen and mechanical pencil set with a beautiful design. The fountain pen barrel has light marks caused by the cap lip as well as light scratching. The lever has plating wear and light pitting along the sides. The cap is excellent, with just some light microscratching. The clip has a light layer of plating wear. The clip ring has moderate plating wear. The mechannical pencil has long, thin microscratches near the black section of the cone. The black section looks excellent with one little imperfection. The long tapered end piece looks great. The clip has light microscratching. The band above the clip has a dot of plating wear. The cone has light microscratching. The imprints on both pieces are clear.
