Product Name Conway Stewart 550 "Dinkie" Pen with No. 25 Mechanical Pencil set
Manufacturer and Year Conway Stewart, England -- 1952-62.
Length The pen is just a hair over 4" capped (4-7/8" long with cap posted) and the pencil is 4-5/16".
Filling System The pen is a restored lever filler, tested and working well. We guarantee the filling system for a year from the date of purchase. The pencil takes "thick" 1.1mm leads, which extend and retract by twisting the top half of the pen. Only one lead fits in at a time, and we've tested the mechanism and it's working well.
Color Marbled burgundy celluloid with black veins and gold filled trim.
Nib 14k flexible fine Conway Stewart nib. It's very small with good tipping material. The tines spread fairly easily. Please see our writing sample in the photos.
Condition Excellent + condition in original box. Fountain Pen: The cap and barrel look fantastic. There are a very few little surface marks on the cap, but otherwise there's just microscratching. The clip and tassie have touches of brassing, but largely look good. The cap band has some brassing along the upper and lower edges. The lever bar looks really good. Mechanical pencil: The pencil also looks great. For the most part, there's just very light handwear on the pencil. the cone has slight plating wear. The clip has brassing around the edges, and there is some plating wear on the cap jewel. The middle band has brassing along the upper and lower edges. The marbled burgundy material has just some light microscratches, but looks fantastic. The imprints on both pieces are clear.
Ships in a lovely cardboard box with a floral or paisley pattern in pink and green with gold highlights. Really nice set in a beautiful, compact box!
