Product Name The fountain pen is marked Conway Stewart 84 on the barrel and the mechanical pencil is Conway No 26.
Manufacturer and Year Conway Stewart, made in England -- 1952-63.
Length The pen is 4-5/8" and the pencil is 4-1/4".
Filling System The pen is a lever filler. We replaced the bladder and it is working well. The pencil uses a twist mechanism and takes "thick" or 1.1mm leads. The lead extends and retract well.
Color Marbled Blue, with some black areas. The section is black. The cap jewels are gold plated like the rest of the trim. Both pieces have 1/8" wide cap bands.
Nib Medium 14k Conway Stewart nib. It's a bit soft and bouncy, but there's no line variation.
Condition Excellent + condition for this petite set. No dents, chips, scratches, or personalization. The imprints are clear. Fountain pen: The cap has some light scratching. The clip has some brassing and a bit of plating wear. The cap band has plating wear along both edges. The barrel has light to moderate scratching. There is brassing on the lever bar. The section looks great, with no chips or tool marks. The end of the barrel has some marks from posting the cap. The imprints are clear. Mechanical pencil: There are two short (1/4") cracks in the barrel where it meets the nose cone. The rest of the bottom half of the pencil has light scratching. The cone has microscratching, and some spots of brassing. The top half of the pencil has moderate to heavy scratches. The imprints are slightly worn, but clear. There is brassing and plating wear on the clip. The cap band has microscratching. Both pieces work well.
We're pricing it based on the value of the fountain pen, and we're assigning very little value to the pencil due to the cracks.
