Product Description
Type Vintage lever fill pen which works beautifully and has a flexible nib.
Product Name Model 52
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA - 1920s. Due to the ornate gold bands on the barrel, and the gold lever housing, we believe that this is an early production pen.
Length 5-3/8"
Filling System Lever filler. We have replaced the bladder and it works very well.
Color Black chased hard rubber cap and barrel. The barrel has 2 ornate gold filled bands. It would have originally had a clip, as is evidenced by two tiny tidy holes, but it no longer has the clip.
Nib The nib is marked Waterman Ideal New York 2. It is nicely flexible ... and has a lot of tipping material. It's not particularly soft feeling, but it flexes and springs back briskly. The line varies from extra fine to medium/broad, so it's not full flex, but it certainly is very good flex.
Condition Excellent condition. The chasing pattern on the barrel is mostly gone, with just a few hints that it previously existed. The chasing on the cap is smoothed but still evident. The hard rubber is mostly dark brown, with just some black at the front of the barrel underneath where the cap sits. There are holes on the cap where a clip used to be attached, but it is now gone. The color of the cap is very evenly dark brown. There are some tiny marks around the top edge of the cap. The barrel of the pen has mostly faded to a dark brown, and the chasing is nearly all gone. The lever bar and housing have some plating wear. Both of the gold bands have some damage along the edges, as well as some brassing and plating wear.
