Product Description
Type Three-piece fountain pen, ballpoint, and pencil set. Each writing instrument is numbered 326 of different quantities of each piece. There were 2100 fountain pens, 1750 ballpoint pens, and 350 mechanical pencils produced.
Product Name 150th Anniversary
Manufacturer and Year Cross, USA -- 1996.
Length The fountain pen, ballpoint pen, and mechanical pencil all measure 5-1/4" long.
Filling System The fountain pen takes Cross cartridges and Cross Townsend converters. These are the push-in converters and not the threaded ones. A clear converter is included in the box. The ballpoint pen takes Cross ballpoint pen refills. They are long and threaded at the top. A working black Cross refill is installed. The mechanical pencil takes 0.9mm leads. Tubes of leads and eraser refills are included in the box.
Color Sterling Silver. There is a "flamestitch" machine engraved pattern on the body, with three black enamel rings on both top and bottom halves of each piece; this is a throwback to a style that Cross made in 1930. The fountain pen section is black.
Nib Medium 18k Cross nib is two-tone and smooth, with elaborate engraving. It has really nice looking tipping and feed.
Condition New condition, never used, in presentation box with paperwork and accessories. When we got the set, the writing instruments were sealed in bags, but we removed them in order to polish the sterling. All of the writing instruments look fantastic, with just very light polishing marks on the surface. All of the CROSS imprints are clear. No chips in the lacquer.
The American cherry wood box has some slight dings on the outer surface. The foam pieces inside are present, but there is some age-related deterioration. The wood desk tray looks perfect. Polishing cloths are included. The original ink bottle and cut-glass inkwell are present and in excellent condition.
