Product Description
Type Ornate dip pen holder/handle with flexible nib and mother-of-pearl (or MOP-looking celluloid) handle
Product Name Unknown
Manufacturer and Year Unknown who made the holder, but the nib was made by L. Jackson
Length 5-5/8" with nib extended
Filling System None, this is a dip pen so you dip the nib in ink. There's no ink reservoir and no feed, so you need to use the right ink and re-dip a lot. You can't use regular fountain pen ink. (Our writing sample was done using KWZ fountain pen ink, and you can see it is ot thick enough to prevent railroading.)
Color Mother-of-pearl colored celluloid, or possibly real MOP. The nib holder and extending mechanism are gold filled or gold plated.
Nib FINE nib is marked L Jackson No. 1. Very good tipping material, which you don't always see on dip pen nibs, and it's nicely smooth. You are probably going to have to use something close to India ink .... we couldn't get more than a few strokes with fountain pen ink without having to re-dip.
Condition Gorgeous! No dents or dings or personalization. The gold plating on the holder is quite nice with hardly any wear.
