Product Description
Type Combination lever fill fountain pen and mechanical pencil
Product Name Unknown, it has a #2 Warranted 14k nib. There is a Louis Tamis & Sons hallmark on the pencil half of the unit; they are a jewelry company that was founded in 1909.
Manufacturer and Year Edward Todd & Co. (?) New York, circa 1930s-40s. We've previously seen a similar appearing combo FP/MP that was made by Edward Todd, though that one had a Todd nib. This one has a Warranted nib, and has a jeweler's hallmark; we can find examples of Tiffany pens with the Tamis hallmark (LT&Sons) on the internet, but they generally have a very different style. This establishes that the jeweler was associated with other companies, but we think this one more closely resembles the style of Edward Todd than Tiffany.
Length 5-1/2"
Filling System Lever filler, we've fully restored it with a new sac. The pencil side takes 1.1mm (or "thick") leads, which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism. We'll include a small packet of leads.
Color Gold filled - it's marked 1/10 14kt gold filled - with a pattern of rings and lines all over.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE Warranted #2 14k nib. Nicely flexible, with line variation from extra fine to medium with just a little pressure. See our writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition. There is light scratching all over. The fountain pen end has marks caused by the cap lip. The central body looks especially nice. There are a couple of shallow dents on the pencil end, and we've included a detailed photo of this area. The very tip of the cone has brassing. The clip has plating wear along the sides and some around the top edge. The cap also has a couple of blobs of gold on the top. The barrel is personalized with the initials "D. J. B."
