Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen with a novel filling system.
Product Name Aqua Pen - this was a US copycat of the Italian L.U.S. Company's Atomica pen. See this PenHero article for more info on the Aqua Pen.
Manufacturer and Year Empex, made in USA - circa 1960s.
Length Barely over 5-1/8"
Filling System It uses unique cartridges with ink pellets in the back of them so that to fill it you simply dip the tip of the pen in water and squeeze the cartridge in order to fill it with water, which activates the ink pellet and makes the pen write. We tested it and the ink is still working with just water, though when it runs out it you could simply use it as a make-shift aerometric squeeze filler.
Color Grey barrel and section with a gold plate cap, gole plated trim, and a gold plated end piece.
Nib MEDIUM gold plated nib is smooth.
Condition Very nice condition. There's some light scratching and wear on the cap and barrel, some soft marks of discoloration on the barrel, and a little plating wear on the end piece of the barrel (see photos). The plating is just a little worn on the nib and the clutch ring. No cracks or chips, dings or dents. It's working well and is in its original box, which looks quite nice.
