Product Description
Type Modern fountain pen
Product Name Model 40 Pocket.
Manufacturer and Year Franklin-Christoph Pen Company, USA -- Mid 2010s, this is one of the later colors before the model got retired in 2016.
Length 4-1/4" capped and 5-5/16" posted.
Filling System Takes international short cartridges. The barrel is much too short for any converters or long cartridges. The box has a new box of Piper Royal Blue ink cartridges in it. Piper is a refill brand under the Franklin-Christoph umbrella. Piper Royal Blue is the same color as Franklin-Christoph Blue 72.
Color "Smoke & Ice" is a transparent pen with a brushed lining for the "ice" appearance. it is smooth to the touch. The "smoke" refers to the cap filial which is a mix of dark and light gray. This is a non-clip version so while the filial does come off, there is no notch for screwing in a clip.
Nib Broad Cursive Italic JoWo #5 steel nib is ground by Mike Masuyama.
Condition Excellent + condition. The pen has no handwear but there is a little staining in the barrel. It has a blue tinge to it that it wouldn't have originally had. There are also a few spots of staining in the cap. No posting marks. The pen ships in the older Franklin-Christoph box with Masuyama chop and package of ink cartridges. It's a good model for eyedroppering.
