Product Description
Type Fountain pen, restored and working well.
Product Name Unknown, #2 Grieshaber nib so we're calling it a #2. We really don't know who made the pen aside from the nib, but the unique high quality overlay pattern is somewhat similar to other complex Grieshaber patterns we've seen.
Manufacturer and Year Grieshaber Pens, Chicago -- 1920s.
Length 5-3/16"
Filling System Eye dropper filled. Tested and working well. We will include instructions of using the filling system, as well as an eye dropper kit that includes silicone grease and a pipette. We guarantee the filling system for a year from the date of purchase.
Color Black hard rubber with a sterling overlay with a floral filigree pattern.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE Grieshaber No.2 nib is smooth with nice tipping material. It's got decent flex and produced line variation from fine to broad, see writing sample below. We do see a notch in the feed behind the right tine (visible in the reverse closeup nib shot), suggesting that the pen was used alongside a ruler to draw straight lines. It doesn't affect the pen's function.
Condition Excellent condition. The Grieshaber overlay pens we've seen tend to have really well done filigree work. The pen has not been personalized. There is a lot of scratching and some light dings all over the filigree. The section has scratches from the cap lip. The top edge of the cap has heavy scratching. The only imprint we see is on the nib, which is clear. No cracks. We've fully restored the pen and it's working well.
