Product Description
Type Vintage safety pen in excellent working condition with a flexible nib.
Product Name Unknown
Manufacturer and Year Marked IDEAL on cap band and nib, but it's not a Waterman. Produced in Europe (most likely France or Italy), in the 1920s or 1930s.
Length 4-3/4" with cap on. 4-7/8" with cap off and nib extended.
Filling System Safety Pen, restored here at PSP with a new seal. (To use a safety pen, you uncap it, fill the barrel with ink, then operate the knob on the end of the barrel to extend the nib. The nib seals when fully extended, allowing you to write with an already ink-primed nib. When you are done writing, point the nib at the ceiling and operate the knob to retract the nib. Then screw on the cap and the pen is sealed.) We will send instructions for usage when we ship the pen.
Color Black hard rubber, almost completely covered with ornately carved rolled 18k gold. The overlay has alternating panels of wavy lines and plain lines. Fancy floral clip and finial.
Nib FLEXIBLE fine, really good flex (see writing sample below). Marked "Superior 14k Ideal Iridium Pen."
Condition Excellent + condition. No dents or dings. Some brassing on the heavily carved cap top and clip. There's a short split or seam in the edge of the overlay near knob. No personalization.
