Product Description
Type fountain pen
Product Name L33, based off of the end of the barrel. Latremore bought components from other makers and assembled their own pens from the parts.
Manufacturer and Year Latremore's, made in USA -- 1920s.
Length 5-1/4
Filling System More formally called a thumb filler, this is commonly called a sleeve filler. The end of the barrel can be pulled away from the section to reveal a thumb shaped area with a sac and pressure bar. You compress the pressure bar to fill the pen with ink. A new sac has been installed.
Color Black chased hard rubber (BCHR) with 10k gold filled trim. There is an ornate 1/2" cap band.
Nib Soft Stub 14k nib. The tines separate just enough for line variation and the tipping material has a stub quality to it. Together we get a flexible stub writing experience that seems summarized well as a "Soft Stub." The nib might be a replacement, since there are Latremore branded nibs out there. Please see the writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition. There is some plating wear on the edges of the cap band and the peak of the bumps on the clip. The chasing looks good on the cap, but is quite worn on the barrel. The pen is discolored with a transition between the covered and uncovered parts of the barrel when capped. The two colors aren't starkly different but it is noticeable.
