Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen, and mechanical pencil set
Product Name Unknown
Manufacturer and Year LeBoeuf, Springfield, Mass. – circa 1920s
Length Fountain pen is 5-1/8" capped. Pencil is 5" .
Filling System Fountain pen is a lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working well. Pencil uses 0.9mm leads, which extend and retract by the traditional twist mechanism.
Color Green Pearl celluloid with gold plated trim. Really pretty shades of sage green, and the material exhibits a really nice changeable luster with a 3D effect, as you look at the pieces from different angles.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE gold LeBoeuf #4 nib is smooth with nice tipping. It flexes easily from medium to a nice larger broad with very little pressure. See writing sample below. NOTE: There is a short crack in the base of the nib, which you can see in the nib closeup shot. This is a stable crack, but the nib should not be over-flexed. (Important note: We cannot give you a refund if you pull or tamper with the nib.)
Condition Excellent condition. Fountain pen: Lovely and smooth, no scratches, cracks, or chips. Color is gorgeous and even throughout, and quite shiny. The nib is nice and smooth, and gives nice line variation without very much pressure. It does have a crack in the base of the nib, which does not affect the pen's function; we do recommend keeping an eye on it. Slight brassing on the edges of the clip and on the cap ring. Pencil: The color is equally as excellent as the pen, but there are some cracks, especially in the top half of the pencil. Use caution when twisting the lead in and out, so that you don't stress those cracks further. The nose cone also has some surface toolmarks, which do not affect the function. Slight brassing on the edges of both clip and trim ring. Both pieces are fully restored and working well.
