Product Description
Type Twist fill fountain pen
Product Name Swan Calligraph
Manufacturer and Year Mabie Todd & Co. England - probably sometime in the 1950s
Length 5"
Filling System Twist filler. You twist the knob on the end of the barrel and it pulls a lever down to squeeze the sac. We've restored it and it's working very well. We'll include instructions on filling the pen.
Color Teal blue with gold plated trim. Triple cap band has one 1/16" band and a half width on either side of it.
Nib FLEXIBLE MEDIUM Swan #2 18k nib. It's almost fully flexible, with easy line variation from a thin medium to a really impressive broad. See writing sample below. (We think that this might be a replacement nib, as these pens usually have Swan calligraphy nibs with italic cuts.)
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. The big flaw is the plating wear. This is a small pen in a dark teal color with good shine. The barrel has marks caused by the cap lip and light to moderate scratching with the heavier scratching toward the end of the barrel. The blind cap is just a bit lighter in color than the barrel. The cap has moderate wear with a few long scratch lines. The bottom thin cap band has plating wear and the other two bands have microscratching. The clip has heavy scratching, some plating wear, and some lines of pitting. The top gold piece on the cap has brassing and wear. All imprints are clear.
