Product Description
Type Twist fill fountain pen
Product Name Swan Calligraph
Manufacturer and Year Mabie Todd & Co. England - probably sometime in the 1950s
Length 5-1/16"
Filling System Twist filler. You twist the knob on the end of the barrel and it pulls a lever down to squeeze the sac. We've restored it and it's working very well. We'll include instructions on filling the pen.
Color Teal blue with gold plated trim. Triple cap band has one 1/16" band and a half width on either side of it.
Nib FLEXIBLE MEDIUM Swan #2 18k nib is in beautiful condition, smooth with great tipping material. It's fully flexible, with easy line variation from a thin medium to a really impressive double broad. See writing sample below. (We think that this might be a replacement nib, as these pens usually have Swan calligraphy nibs with italic cuts.)
Condition Very nice condition. The barrel is a little discolored, it has gotten slightly lighter and more green looking around the threads, most of which is covered by the cap when it's screwed on. There's some lesser brassing - some small spots on the triple cap band and many tiny spots on the clip, especially on the ridge (see photos). There are some small scratches and marks on the cap and barrel, as well as a slight indent on the lower barrel from the cap being posted on it. The imprint is a bit worn, but still fully readable. It's a nice looking pen despite the wear with an interesting filling system, and the nib makes it a real pleasure to write with
