Type Mechanical pencil with huge leads .... sometimes these are called stock broker's pencils, and they can also be used for drawing.
Product Name Magazine Pencil (engraved on the cone)
Manufacturer and Year Mabie Todd Swan Co., a New York company – Unknown year, though the styling suggests it is from the 1920s or perhaps '30s.
Filling System Takes huge leads, bigger than we currently have on hand. We measured the opening, which is around 5.5mm so we think the modern 5.5mm leads will fit.
Color Sterling silver with 1/4" patterned lines separated by empty spaces that run down the length of the pencil. There is a personalization, "MP" on the opposite side of the clip.
Condition Very nice condition with no cracks. This is a long, slim pencil that is shiny and with nice patterning. The nose cone has a few small dents. The body has light scratching. The top piece above the clip has some small scratches and some tarnish marks. The clip looks quite lovely with just some tarnishing marks. The pencil is personalized: "MP" on the barrel. All imprints are clear. The mechanism works well, though we didn't have leads for testing.
