Type Cartridge/converter filling fountain pen, working well.
Product Name Montblanc Meisterstück Solitaire Sterling Silver Fountain Pen. The pen is the size of a 144, and may have been considered a 1446.
Manufacturer and Year Montblanc, Germany -- 1990s. (Just before they started to put serial numbers on the pens, but after they'd dropped the W. Germany imprint.)
Length 5-5/16".
Filling System Cartridge/converter filler. It takes Montblanc converters, and a new converter is installed.
Color Sterling silver barrel and cap with a "Grain d'Orge" or "barley" pattern. The clip is gold-plated, as are portions of the cap bands.
Nib MEDIUM Montblanc 14k gold nib marked 4810. It's firm and smooth with nice tipping material. We replaced the section and feed on this pen, and it's working well.
Condition Excellent condition. The cap and barrel have very light scratching and handwear. No individual scratches are visible, or dents or dings. The patterning is perfect! There is some light patina in spots. There is light scratching on the smooth surface of the cap. The renowned Montblanc star logo on the cap is perfect. No personalization. The imprints are clear. Comes in box with paperwork, but it is not the original box.
Please note we made some changes to the original pen. When we got it, it had the section with the plastic threads (famous for cracking), and a severely corroded ring near the nib. We replaced the section with one that had metal threads and a new trim ring. This necessitated a different feed to fit the section, one which was slightly larger than the original, but we kept the same nib.
