Product Description
Type Vintage piston filler fountain pen
Product Name 234-1/2 (stamped on the knob). The 2 indicates that it is one of Montblanc's mid-tier pens, the 3 in the tens place means that it has a piston-filling mechanism, and the final 4-1/2 is the nib size. This also points to the date of manufacture, because in 1949 their numbering system changed.
Manufacturer and Year Montblanc, Germany, 1936-39. The presence of gold trim, as well as the imprint "DRP 652405" confirm that date range. (DRP = "Deutsche Reich Patent") and further identify it as a Type 1 version of the 234-1/2. The clear ink window is also a clue, as it preceded the striped ink window of later versions.
