Product Description
Type Cartridge/converter filling fountain pen, working well
Product Name Model 144
Manufacturer and Year Montblanc, W Germany -- Pre-1989. (In 1991 they started putting serial numbers on the pens, and this does not have a serial number. In 1989 they switched from saying "W GERMANY" and started saying "GERMANY," and this one still says W Germany. This has the earlier feed and a single tone nib, and the section threads are brass.)
Length 5-5/16".
Filling System Cartridge/converter filler. A working converter is included.
Color Burgundy (Bordeaux) with gold plated trim.
Nib Medium Montblanc 14k gold nib marked 4810. It's firm and smooth with nice tipping material.
Condition Excellent condition. There's a faint line under the surface of the end piece which suggests a crack .... see photo. No other cracks, chips, dings or dents, personalization, or plating wear. There's some corrosion on the gold plated ring near the nib, that's a common issue with these 144s, and you can see it in the photos. There are a few tiny faint marks and micro-scratches on the cap. Working very well.
(When we acquired the pen there was a lot of corrosion on the ring near the nib, so we sent it into Montblanc for restoration, and they replaced everything but the nib and cap. We will include the paperwork, which guarantees the work for a year from Feb 2016.)
