Manufacturer and Year Montblanc, Germany -- late 1980s. The Solitaire was first introduced in 1986, and serial numbers came along in 1991. The clip band is stamped "Germany", but there is no serial number. The box and literature inside mentions Montblanc being a manufacturer of writing instruments in Hamburg, West Germany, reinforcing the late 1980s date.
Length Just under 5-1/2".
Filling System Takes 0.7mm leads.
Color Sterling silver in a lined "pinstripe" pattern, gold plated trim.
Condition Excellent + condition, in box with paperwork. No cracks, chips, dents, dings or scratches on this beautiful mechanical pencil. There is light microscratching all over, and scattered spots of tarnish. The gold trim all looks great, with no brassing or plating wear. This is an elegant and gorgeous executive pencil. The imprints are clear. Ships in large velvet covered clamshell box, with paperwork, and outer cardboard box with the model number indicated on one of the end flaps.
