Product Description
Type Handcrafted Japanese fountain pen.
Product Name Emperor.
Manufacturer and Year Namiki, Japan - 2016, according to the date code on the nib.
Length 6-3/4" long.
Filling System Eyedropper filler. This pen also has a feature common in Japanese eyedropper pens, in that there is a shut-off valve incorporated in the system. After filling the barrel with ink, you will twist the tail of the pen counterclockwise, which allows ink to flow into the feed and nib. When you're done, close the tail, and ink is blocked from flowing out of the barrel.
Color Deep Black urushi lacquer over ebonite. Gold clip and nib. The feed is also urushi on an ebonite base.
Nib BROAD 18k #50 nib. It's Pilot-Namiki's largest nib.
Condition This pen is in beautiful condition with very little sign of wear. Our inspection revealed some traces of ink. The cap and barrel are gorgeous, with just light microscratching. The clip has light polishing marks. The pen comes in a velvet-lined wood box, with a bottle of Pilot Namiki blue ink. The eyedropper that was originally supplied with the pen is missing, but we will include an eyedropper kit when the pen is shipped. Ships in original wooden box with outer cardboard box, a bottle of ink, polishing cloth, and paperwork.
(Note: research tells us that urushi should not cause an allergic response if properly cured. We did note that there is some very slight bubbling in the urushi on the feed. As we understand it, this may be the result of improper urushi curing; it should not affect the pen's function. One of our employees has owned an urushi pen with similar bubbles on the section, and although quite sensitive to poison oak/ivy/sumac, has experienced no reaction in over 4 years.)
