Product Description
Type Restored vintage fountain pen
Product Name Parker 51 Custom Vacumatic ("Custom" refers to the cap design.) Hard to find cap.
Manufacturer and Year Parker, made in USA -- 1945 (The date code is a clear 5 with no dots).
Length Full size pen, 5-9/16"
Filling System piston/plunger (Vacumatic) filling system. We've restored it with a new diaphragm and it's working well. It has the later vacumatic plastic plunger system which is the correct plunger for the Parker 51 vacumatics.
Color Cedar Blue body with a 1/10 14k gold filled cap. The cap has a pattern made of alternating pairs of straight and wavy lines and a dark pearlescent cap jewel. The clip is a blue diamond clip.
Nib MEDIUM gold nib is smooth. It has lots of tipping material and could maybe even be considered a medium-broad by vintage nib size standards.
Condition Excellent + condition. There are some nicks right beneath the clip band, but otherwise the cap is gorgeous with no dents or dings or brassing. The barrel is very shiny and smooth with only light scratches. There is pitting on the clutch band. The blind cap isn't perfectly flush with the barrel and there is a visible bump on the section from capping. The barrel and cap imprint are easily read. It has been fully restored and is working very well.
